Never heard of it myself but if they were on a cruise then it would maybe make sense that they did some sort of fishing and fishing with spoons seems to exist:

Again, don't know what this is, but just staying in the 'spoon' theme. Unless it's really vital that the exact same games are found in the translation a bit of cultural substitution might be acceptable; I at least would consider it in the same position.
