è passato in sordina Sorry. I posted a comment under reference which should have been posted as a discussion entry. I'm truly surprised that many answers implied that that what the action describes is past and done. It is clear that the action is instead recent and ongoing, exactly as MisterBeppe describes in his "explanation". The writer is referring to a current situation, not to a past action.
