disagree  philgoddard: This means "value added tax tax payers", so it doesn't work.

agree  James (Jim) Davis: To Phil. The UK nationa audit office uses both "VAT taxpayers" and "Income tax taxpayers" http://www.official-documents.gov.uk/document/hc0708/hc11/11... VAT payer (logical) is also used but sounds strained and unnatural to me.

  -> Thanks Jim! Pleased you agree with me! :-) I think "VAT payer" is more colloquial -and yes it is a little strained perhaps- as in "I'm a VAT payer", although more likely is "I pay VAT", which is why I entered VAT taxpayers as the response.
