Si rende opportuno segnalare che, qualora il percipiente adotti i principi contabili internazionali, i dividendi derivanti da una partecipazione non iscritta tra le immobilizzazioni finanziarie scontano tassazione integrale, senza, pertanto, beneficiare dell’esclusione parziale nella misura del 95% (art. 89 comma 2-{ut2}bis{ut3} D.P.R. 917/1986).

I know the meaning of 'scontano' in the sense of 'to discount' but can't figure out what it means here. Is it 'do not count towards'?

Any help gratefully received.

agree  Rosanna Palermo: it means the amount of dividends from holdings not reported as fixed financial assets are fully taxable, and therefore not subject to the 95% tax deduction otherwise applicable to fixed financial assets
