Italian term or phrase: referente della procedura
i'm proofreading a doc here and as a translation for the above there is "Designated resource responsible for the procedure". the procedure in question is the ordering of supplies (of any type, hence in the abstract). my own view is that both "resource" and "responsible" are italianisms in this context and was wondering if a) people agree and b) someone has a suggestion as to how to rephrase the term better.
my question was asked before here: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/italian_to_english/business_commer... and opinions on the proposed answer would also be welcome. as a matter of fact, i think it's quite good, but, for me, when you're "responsible" for something in english you have to answer for it in the negative (i.e. breaking the neighbours' windows with your football, as i did when i was a kid).

Explanation:
Hi!

These are great Italianisms - both referente and il responsabile delegato ....

The previous answer that I agreed with is a good and simple way of rendering the term. My answer is an alternative.

English tends to simplify while Italian tends to make simple concepts very complicated !

Re responsible in English - I don't agree - responsibility also has a managerial meaning as in "positions of responsibility and the phrase below - managers are responsible for the people that resport to them etc.
"The higher the position, the greater the responsibility and the increase in need for accountability."

Cheers

Alison

Sorry about the literals in English - there is an "in" missing and - of course - it's report .... but it's early and I need another cup of coffee!!!!

Asker: ok, i agree on "position of resonsibility" and that a manager is "responsible for staff", but it's one thing to be responsible for them and another to be in charge of them.

could be an alternative, not just a bunch of words, haphazardly put in a non-defined order...

REFERENTE DELLA PROCEDURA

Explanation:
In Quality Management Systems (i.e. systems managing organisational procedures and standards), procedures have owners, i.e. persons responsible for their content, maintenance and implementation in practice. Don't know if that might fit better in your context.
