Italian term or phrase: demodulazione / demodulato
Dear colleagues,

This text is proving to be quite challenging. This is a report of colour Doppler ultrasounds.

We know that modulazione means change but what does 'demodulazione / demodulato' mean here?

Moderata *demodulazione* , anche, del flusso vertebrale bilateralmente.
a sn presenza di placche dal modesto, in atto, significato emodinamico>; *demodulato* il flusso tibiale e pedideo bilateralmente

We are grateful for any help, thank you very much!

Explanation:
It's important to remember that stenosis, but also stents, and other similar changes to blood vessels, cause changes in the dynamics of the blood flow. The theory of post-stenotic flow speed appears a complex one, however what is clear is that its dynamics change, which is an indicator of stenosis.

I'm not sure if "disturbance" is the correct term in your case; you may want to do some research into hemodynamics.

"The detection of vortex trails and flow disturbances provides a means for transcutaneous detection of vascular obstructions. Downstream propagation of disturbances makes it possible to detect an obstruction without being directly over the obstruction."

"It has been suggested that a major advantage of Doppler color flow mapping is its ability to visualize areas of disturbed (“turbulent”) flow, for example, in valvular stenosis or regurgitation and in shunts."

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you, Fiona.

Asker: Our doctor says that demodulation is widely used in angiography. I found a definition as to-and-fro flow which in my opinion would also be a disturbance.
