Thanks to technological advances, mainly in the areas of fiber optics, imaging, and miniaturization, many surgical procedures that used to require serious and extensive incisions can now be done with very little insult (as the phrase goes) to the body. Examples include cardiac catheterization, arthoroscopic knee surgery, and a whole slew of laparoscopic internal procedures.
Although the Italian "cielo chiuso" is rather poetic, it really doesn't translate! The standard terms for this kind of surgery are the ones suggested above, although "closed field" is sometimes used:
