transcultural shock Explanation: This term is used in a New York Times review of a theatrical production entitled "Men On The Verge Of A His-Panic Breakdown," by Guillermo Reyes. "The wild and compelling ride veers down a new path, offering insights into the lives of several gay Hispanic Americans as they confront the transcultural shock of race and gender identity Reyes calls the "His-panic breakdown."" A Web search turned up about 1,500 hits for "transculturation," so "transculturation shock" is another possibility. Reference: http://www.lowt.org/seasons.html |
