a week of student-directed learning activities, organised as a protest

This is based on hirselina's description.

Given what she says, I think you need a paraphrase. This sort of protest doesn't happen in the UK, as far as I know. So you need to say that it's a protest, and also say that some of the students will be having a self-directed learning experience.

self-management

self-management

Without further context, I would say "self-management"
Peer comment(s):

neutral Jane Griffiths (X) : See my comments on Pnina's answer, and note that this is just for a week. Also "autogestione" has strong political overtones, I think.

week of student protest at school

"self-management" would be the literal translation, but I am not sure whether this term would be suitable. It is in fact a week of student protest during which some pupils simply stay home and others take over the school and organise activities ranging from political meeting to yoga and dancing. "School self-management" has quite another meaning in English and it might be confusing. It really depends on the context.

school self-management

I have used the search engine Google and have found out that the expression "school self-management" is mentioned in 486 English websites. Here are two examples of its usage:
1. "The impact of school self-management or school leader roles."
2. "school self-management and the impact of technology on schools."
Peer comment(s):

disagree Jane Griffiths (X) : Good term, but the wrong context. The websites you give use it to mean that the school isn't managed by the Local Education Authority, but by the headteacher and school governors. This is a long-term change in school management.
