La cadente è l'inclinazione della linea dei carichi totali relativa ad una massa di fluido in movimento. È quindi un coefficiente adimensionale molto utilizzato dell'ingegneria idraulica per la determinazione delle perdite di carico dovute all'attrito tra il fluido in movimento e la parete della condotta (nel caso di moto all'interno di una condotta) o dell'alveo (in caso di canali).
