An example of such usage:

"PIAZZA NAVONA N. 64. - Osteria del Botticello - Per
uso degli avventori l'oste teneva nel suo nego-
zio un piccolo botticello, da dove cavava il vino,
e perciò la chiamarono l'osteria del botticello." (Link 2)

It seems quite natural to have a barrel aboard, though not as part of the ship :-)
