L’ingegnere modello vuole costruire il motore perfetto che costi poco, a basso consumo, fantastiche performance ed emissioni zero, e visto che la fisica non si fa prendere in giro volentieri - e questo già da secoli- inventa la furbata del secolo.

Explanation:
entgegen meiner Gewohnheit beim Übersetzen aus dem Italienischen sehr oft einige Adjektive zu streichen, würde ich hier ein Adjektiv hinzufügen. "furbo", "furbata" etc. haben eine negative Konnotation. Diese negative Konnotation kann m.E. nicht mit einem einzigen Wort widergegeben werden. Die Worte, die uns im Deutschen zur Verfügung stehen sind entweder zu positiv oder zu negativ. Deshalb plädiere ich für ein ergänzendes Adjektiv.
