Italian term or phrase: Accordo del participio passato al P.O.D.

Dubbio lancinante!!! Al passato prossimo quando in luogo del complemento d'oggetto diretto si usa il corrispondente pronome il participio passato va accordato (z.B. "Le scarpe le ho prese")... Ok...
Con la forma di cortesia singolare "Lei" l'aggettivo va accordato al sesso del soggetto (z.B. "Signore/Signora, Lei è italiano/a?") ... Ok...

Ma allora perché non mi suona "Che cosa L'ha trattenuto (leggi "Ha trattenuto Lei" dove l'oggetto è un uomo)dal compiere questo gesto?", mentre mi suona bene solo la variante con l'accordo al femminile "Che cosa L'ha trattenuta"??

Sarà la stanchezza... Grazie!

La cosa migliore è accordare participi e aggettivi al femminile anche quando si parla di un uomo, giacché con il "Lei" ci si riferisce alla sua persona.
