Agriculture / Olive growing
Italian term or phrase: ombrello ribassato
A piece on olive oil I'm translating includes this description: "Il proprietario coltiva, **ad ombrello ribassato**, 1000 piante (di olivo) piantate ad alta densità." There is practically nothing in internet for "ombrello ribassato", so it may be a term invented by the writer/grower, but apart from translating it literally, does anyone have any idea of what the equivalent in English could be? Thanks, Sarah

umbrella-shaped (tree)
Explanation:
"'WILD OLIVE'. Small, dense-crowned, umbrella-shaped tree, not over 30 feet tall. Dark green 3" leaves and tiny creamy flowers followed by round 1/4" black fruits. The twigs and undersides of the leaves are covered with tiny scales. Native to South Africa. Often found growing among rocks. The olives are edible, and the wood hard and valuable. Good for arid regions and severe environments. "
