Italian term or phrase: cavaliere del lavoro
In piu' e' cavaliere del lavoro, presidente del club piu' esclusivo della citta', e' consigliere di non so quante banche...
Traci Andrighetti
English translation:Il Sansoni dice
Explanation:
"Italian decoration given to important figures in industry" (Berlusconi is one, just so you know!).

Here context will dictate what to do. If you are adapting the text to a specific culture, than use stg. that your audience will understand (in the US stg. like "Exhaulted Ruler of the local B.P.O.E lodge"... I kid you not, this is a real title of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks!).

If instead you are preserving the "Italianity" of your characters and setting, I would leave it in Italian in quotation marks (if you are allowed you can add a Translator's Note).

Buon lavoro,

Floriana

agree  CLS Lexi-tech: I would not localize it:"he received the C del L decoration as industry leader..." same sentence.

agree  Derek Smith: better in Italian; perhaps you could use the expression "captain of industry" by way of explanation...
