"information copy" or "for your information" (FYI) Explanation: Either of these phrases, and the abbreviation "FYI" (on the copy sent to the individual in question), would be perfectly fine. FYI, The English abbreviation "cc:" has two roots: first, the abbreviation of "carbon copy," which dates from the time when typists actually produced multiple copies of a letter, using a manual or electric typewriter and sheets of carbon paper, and, second, the Latin plural formation of "copy," which consists simply of duplicating the first letter ("c").
