Italian term or phrase: OPA (again...)
Vorrei aggiungere alla discussione di ieri che, anche se ci eravamo più o meno messi d'accordo sul "take-over bid", in realtà è venuto fuori che nel mio caso si tratta di "mandatory offer" che l'acquirente è costretto a lanciare nel caso di: "...an acquisition which pushes the acquirer to or beyond the 30 per cent threshold..." (The City Code).
Purtroppo, non essendo questa volta una domanda vera e propria, non ci sono più KudoZ da guadagnare.

Buon lavoro

IPO (Initial Public Offer)

Explanation:
As commented yesterday, I do not agree with the previous answers given.

Assuming the company concerned is not already quoted, IPO would be correct. However, if it is a quoted company then simply PO (Public Offer) would seem appropriate.

Goodluck!

OPA = (1) mandatory offer, (2) take-over bid

Explanation:
Peter, I have consulted with an English lawyer who says that you are obviously using "public offer" in the sense of the very technical term which is required under the circumstances and which for our purposes is "mandatory offer." Thank you for your contribution!

Cheers,
