... or "valuation method", "valuation criterion", or some variation on the theme. Although if the context actually uses the singular I suspect you'll need to reword the sentence a bit and not translate the expression literally. These translations assume that it's referring to the section of an annual report which in Italian is usually called "Criteri di valutazione".

"Valuation method" would also be correct if we're talking about inventories.

I would say that "assessment" would be correct only if we're talking about how the value of real estate or some other property was determined. And in any case "criterium" is incorrect as "criterion" is the correct form, although even that is not used as frequently in English as "criterio" is in Italian.
