Italian term or phrase: indice di liquidità secca
Thanks Francesco. Can you, or anyone else, do anything with this one I wonder:
L’indice di liquidità immediata (cassa e banche attive/passività a breve termine) passa dal 28% nel 1999 al 12% nel 2000, mentre l’indice di liquidità secca (cassa e banche attive/debiti verso istituti di credito a breve termine) passa dal 74% nel 1999, al 30% nel 2000.
TIA

current ratio
Explanation:
questo indice e' dato dalla frazione:
current asset over current liabilities;
while the indice di liquidita' immediata would be the Acid-test ratio or quick ratio. Ciao PC

Thanks to all,
I have read your answers carefully and found them all very helpful. I must admit that I'm particularly pleased about being given the chance to use a colourful expression like "acid test ratio". All I need now is some excuse for inserting "electric Kool Aid"...

medium-term liquidity

Explanation:
but this is just my guess based on the definition given in your own text.
I have found something on the net, however, that *might* support this theory, because both short- and medium-term liquidity are mentioned:

http://www.ids-scheer.com/sixcms/detail.php/2229
"The bank consultant starts his day by checking the current financial data of the corporate clients. Via a secure internet connection he can load this information directly from the client’s SAP R/3 system (FI, CO, SD) into his consultant system. This system, then, calculates a short- and medium-term liquidity analysis and generates individual cash management options (daily money, credit, simulation of alternatives etc.)."

short-term liquidity index

Explanation:
Would this suit?

"SHORT TERM LIQUIDITY - Explanation
Short-term liquidity is the ability of the company to meet its short-term financial commitments. Short-term liquidity ratios measure the relationship between current liabilities and current assets. Short-term financial commitments are current liabilities, which are typically trade creditors, bank overdrafts PAYE, VAT and any other amounts that must be paid within the next twelve months. Current assets are stocks and work-in-progress, debtors and cash that would normally be re-circulated to pay current liabilities."

cash-to-short term bank indebtedness performance (ratio)

Explanation:
If I understand your question well, here it is not about current assets as a whole, but only cassa e banche attive,
cassa = cash in hand, banca attiva = cash in bank, for both = cash
I do not know of a shorter expression but for liquidità immediata I would say cash-to-current liabilities performance (ratio), (passività a breve termine = current liabilities)
for liquidità secca I would say = cash-to short term bank indebtedness performance (ratio)(debiti verso istituti di credito a breve termine)
If instead all current assets vs all current liabilities than = current ratio
If cash + accounts receivable + marketable securities vs current liabilities = liquidity ratio or quick ratio or acid test ratio are all syn.

14 hrs
liquidity ratio or quick ratio

Explanation:
This is the term for "indice di liquidità immediata" from several sources, including Francesco Cesari's Dizionario di Economia e Finanza, Codeluppi, and Barron's Dictionary of Finance and Investment Terms. It is the measure of a firm's ability to meet maturing short-term obligations.
The "secco" part is tougher but I think it refers to the concept of "net". Barron's cross-references the above term against "net quick assets", defined as cash, marketable sercurities and accounts receivable minus current liabilities.
In any event, it seem's that everyone is getting sidetracked by "index" for "indice", whereas the correct term is "ratio".
Good luck!
