Italian term or phrase: perdita subita
My question is: if perdita subita means "losses suffered", then it means the same as mancanza di guadagno = loss of earnings. I therefore suspect that "perdita subita" may refer to loss of goodwill. Can anyone confirm this or otherwise? Many thanks. (context below)

"In caso di difetto di fabbricazione dei prodotti, senza nessun effeto sui consumatori e se lo stesso viene risolto dal fabbricante entro 15 giorni dalla segnalazione di reclamo da parte di XXX, il fabbricante dovrà risarcire XXX solo del danno diretto inteso come perdita subita e mancanza di guadagno."

loss suffered
Explanation:
I believe that "perdita subita" has to be loss suffered, not loss of goodwill - mancanza di guadagno" here could mean loss of earnings, otherwise it's a repetition

Sorry, loss of revenues, not loss of earnings

agree  James (Jim) Davis: "loss incurred and loss of earnings" No mention of "avvio" or "goodwill" whatsoever "perdita subita" is any loss, although probably mostly loss of earnings.

agree  Marco Indovino: IMHO what they mean here is "perdita subita" (i.e. "danno emergente") and "mancanza di guadagno" (i.e. "lucro cessante"), which complement each other. See http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Responsabilità_civile
