11. Optical Fiber in Micro-Trenches or Micro-Ducts
In addition, micro trenching in roads could be used to install the last mile fiber. There are several cities in France that have used this technique. The void between electrical distribution cables in existing conduits could also be used with micro-duct fiber...

Versione inglese: Infrastructure for new cable-laying using micro-trench technique
The *micro-trench* technique is used to lay 4 mono-tubes on suburban roads or along provincial roads; this technique allows for milling of the road surface contemporaneously with the laying of mono-tubes and the trench is then filled using a cement mixture.

To dig or not to dig..?
Public authorities and private landowners are increasingly unhappy to consent to yet another bout of large scale digging on their land and attention is now focused on socially friendly systems for the installation of data networks in business and residential districts. With rising numbers of instances where new-dig is forbidden, *no-dig solutions* offer an increasingly viable alternative.
Systems like Brand-Rex BOP (Bytes in Old Pipes) use existing utility pipes, such as sewers, which are already buried deep under the ground, to install fibre connections. Taking BOP as the example, the system uses a robot to bond a resin-impregnated pad containing *microducts* along the roof of existing sewer pipes.
