Italian term or phrase: presenza di nodi e “regolarità” della tavola
There are plenty of entries for "nodi" in the glossary but I am wondering about the correct term with regard to the sheathing (fodera) of a formwork. Is it "knot": as simple as that? "the presence of knots and the regularity of the panel" would be my tip but I guess I'm seeking reassurance that I'm not too far off course with that translation.
Here is the sentence written in the context of a description of the quality control of formworks:

"sforzandosi di curare la qualità della fodera (presenza di nodi e “regolarità” della tavola)

knots (imperfections)
Explanation:
It is not too clear what you are talking about but if you are sure this is the lining of formwork for concrete, but not sure what the material used for the lining is, then imperfections covers everything. If timber or plywood (tavola sounds like planks or boards), knots. And regolarità is evenness or uniformity. Mostly you don't want these kinds of imperfections in shuttered concrete finishes. If steel, nodo might be dents, kinks etc.
