agree  Stefano Pastorello: I think Daniela is right. The transcribed sentence contains other errors apart from the small "g" in the girl's name and it looks as if the writer is a native Spanish speaker (writing in Italian).

neutral  GAR: why "hadn't + pp" instead of "didn't + infinitive"?... it seems to me a past action

  -> no grammatical idea, it just sounds like the action non completely "past/completed". G. had forgotton or left that total calculation on stand-by at a certain stage, and they are looking into things again staring from there. That's my gut feeling. ;-)
