Italian to English translations [PRO] Furniture / Household Appliances / wood-working
Italian term or phrase:tondino
Context: wood-working / furniture production in the 15th century
Dapprima l'asse era sgrossata con il coltellaccio o masang e successivamente, ottenuta la forma desiderata con l’aiuto di differenti tipi di seghe, il pezzo veniva levigato con il tondino e successivamente, nelle parti in vista, con la pialla;
I've found several definitions of tondino but none of them seem to apply to wood.
Explanation: It seems more appropriate in the context of the fifteenth century, to me at least: excuse me moranna if i use your reference; go to files rasps and rifflers. Wiki also distinguishes rasps as removing more wood than files, and as later the exposed parts are planed... A coarser tool for a ruder age?
