Italian term or phrase:Servizi Demoanagrafici
I am translating the part of the birth certificate issued by the Comune which has the heading "Servizi Demoanagrafici" what is this? Is it Demographic Services or Demographic Services Register. I've never heard to this. To give it context, it's then followed by "Estratto per riassunto dai registri degli atti di nascita." Thanks for your help.
but I do think it is definitely a pro question. Personally, I think somebody in the town hall was feeling a bit sleepy that morning when they wrote it, or perhaps had always had a bit of difficulty with certain words.
I wouldn't worry about the addition of "demo" to the word anagrafici...in the context, the services appear to be the same as those of a Register Office. Demo- is a sort of filler particle to reinforce the fact that statistical information is collected about the population in that office. What do you think?
This word Googles a total of around three hundred pages, a tiny number in Google terms, and I have never seen it before. Anagrafico demografico, but not this hybrid. Demo Anagrafico gets 1,500 but compared to half a million for anagrafico it has to be a fairly rare word. It is not in the online Garzanti.

Register Office Services
Explanation: In the US, the same services are provided by the Office of Vital Records. These services are usually provided locally, in a Municipality.
