Italian term or phrase: infrattati in un luogo di perdizione
This is in response to a question regarding how this person's relationship had gone when he was with a particular girl.

“Come vuoi che sia andata. Male. Era tutto sbagliato, fin dall'inizio. L'ho conosciuta per caso, una sera in discoteca. Dopo due ore eravamo già infrattati in un luogo di perdizione.”
“Dove?”

I am would have thought "infrattati" would imply things went well, but "perdizione." would indicate otherwise.

tucked away in a place of ill repute

Explanation:
I read it that way but I could also read it metaphorically, as perdition being the road that the relationship is on. So I could also see a case for something like "tucked away on the road to perdition", indicating that they're hidden away somewhere, doing things they shouldn't be, but recognizing the hopelessness of the situation given her impending marriage.

Explanation:
I don't think it's such a bad idea, in this case, to translate the phrase more literally.

we were romping around in a seedy dive

Explanation:
Here I'd say dive and seedy give the idea of a club, motel or any other enclosed space...it may refer to the club itself.

If you want to give the idea of an outdoor space you could use 'in a dark/seedy corner' which is more generic.

I'd say there is no emotion nor metaphor intended in the word perdizione.

As far as I know, here in Italy when one refers to a luogo di perdizione they mean nightclubs and other seedy places for over 18s

Often they also mean strip clubs

agree  BdiL: But I'd complete with (in)to perdition, because the sorry feeling should be kept. Where they DID it is unimportant, but NO BUSHES, please! Metaphor won long ago with both infrattarsi and imboscarsi. Maurizio

-> I personally never thought bushes was a good translation as I said in the discussion... it's the hiding away from view which is the main idea:)
