I am confused about what "sopravissuto" refers to here. If it relates to the first name, "corbezzolo", which I would have thought was the case, then I cannot see what "e del nome del genere..." connects to. I would have thought that "e del nome del genere..." is the word that was part of the crossing of words explained just before.

I hope my confusion makes sense.

Il nome corbezzolo deriva dal latino volgare corbitjus, incrocio del lemma mediterraneo (preindoeuropeo) corba, sopravvissuto nell'Italia settentrionale, e del nome del genere dal latino arbutus, derivato da arbuteus, anch'esso lemma di origine mediterranea (preindoeuropeo).
