'Corte di Cassazione' it is something like a Supreme Court of Appeal - lawsuits end up in 'Cassazione' after lawsuits have been lost in all other Italian Courts.

I don't know if context would really help since the lawyer/writer keeps using this term as a reference or note, as in:
"vedasi Cassazione civile, sez I, 5 novembfre 1995"
Anyway here it goes another part: l'importantissima cassazione civile11.12.1980 affermò per prima la rilevanza anche in positivo di tale prove...

Often, 'cassazione' is trans'd as Supreme Court, which simply isn't always accurate. In a paternity suit, I'd guess (and here's the contextual issue) that we're talking about an appellate body. Can you give us a sentence?

Context wld help. I've never been particulary enamored of the typical trans 'Court of Cassation," but if you don't use it, the problem is that you have to know whether you mean a court of appeal or a supreme court (US context).

didn't find it at the Proz term search, and I did find Cassation and Court of Cassation for "Corte di Cassazione"
I could use Civil Cassation, but I don't know if it even exists, or I'm just making it up

Have you checked the Proz term search (where there are many responses for cassazione) or a dictionary (likewise)?
