than to the endings OR headwords Explanation: - ignore the "non"; it's just a grammatical thing. - "testa" (sing.): I'm not totally sure here if it means "endings" or "headwords". I searched on the Hoepli IT/EN dictionary (see below) but doesn't give specific linguistic help. Worth seeing what others have to say on this. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs 20 mins (2004-07-31 23:27:52 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I\'m pretty sure after further thought that this doesn\'t mean endings or suffixes, but to the main component of a compound word - only thing is, I can\'t remember what the proper linguistic term is for that. It\'s contrasting the \"modifiers\" with the ???? -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 18 hrs 20 mins (2004-08-01 10:27:37 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I\'ve just found out what the word for \"teste\" is here - it seems to be \"headwords\" again; see the first entry here: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/headword However, this is tricky as if you\'ve used \"headword\" for \"parola-lemma\" then this would be confusing.
