Italian term or phrase: Assottigliamento
Hello everyone :)

Last question I promise!

Do you think that, in this context:

assicurano una curvatura che rientri negli standard tecnici del settore, ossia "assottigliamento" del materiale deformato ed ovalizzazione della sezione sagomata

Assottigliamento = thinning?

Or could it be something else?

Thank you :)

thinning,flattening, reshaping/rework
Explanation:
Literal translation is thinning indeed
if the material is deformed, then they would reshape/rework it by applying pressure to the bumps and flattening it, or they may file/grind down the portion of the material that is out of spec.
The sure call here is thinning based upon the text you providided but since you have the rest of it you may better know if any of the other terms are a better fit
Have a great day!
