Italian to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Mechanics / Mech Engineering / valves
Italian term or phrase:posizione di chiusura
Contesto: documento che descrive il funzionamento di una valvola. La frase completa recita: "l'otturatore si sposta dalla posizione di apertura alla posizione di chiusura".
Should it be translated "the stem moves from the open position to the shut position" or "the stem moves from the open position to the close position"?
Another way to explain my doubt: is it correct to say that the stem of a shut valve is in the shut position, or is it better to say that the stem is in a closed position?
