Gemellare perché formato da una doppia coppia di alette, mentre "di costa" o "di taglio" fa riferimento alla possibilità di inserire nella sua scanalatura fili rettangolari dal lato più corto, essendo l'altezza di questa inferiore rispetto alla profondità.
