such a dull word? not really 22:04 Feb 7, 2012
I've always thought of protocol as a dull word, not really worth investigating, but it does have its nuances, as the various answers indicate. So I'm wondering whether what I write below is accurate: there is actually a difference between the type of protocol that you run (on a computer or in a clinical trial), that you follow (where protocol is a set of often ad hoc instructions, say on a ward for cleanliness, but not in a clinical trial) and that you carry out or perform or employ (here it can also be a formal set of instructions that has become a standard). I'm sure there is more to it than this, as well as plenty of variability, so I would love to read your comments |
