Medical - Medical (general) / esophageal biopsy results
Italian term or phrase: prelievo su fondo di ulcera
This is from a biopsy for a patient with a number of esophageal problems (edema, hyperemia, fistula) following radiation treatment for squamous-cell carcinoma.

"Il esame istologico evidenziava ... tessuto di granulazione ipertrofico come da *prelievo su fondo di ulcera*. Non aspetti riferibili a malignita' nel materiale esaminato."

"Come da" = "consistent with" or "suggestive of" ... and suggestive of what, exactly? How would you translate this little phrase here, in this context?

Thanks.

sampling from the bottom of the ulcer
Explanation:
There are several possible renditions and you can play with this a bit.
Given the provided context I would say:

....hypertrophic granulation tissue consistent with sampling from the bottom of the ulcer.

Another possibility is to use the expression "as expected" but in that case you need to reword the whole sentence

Glad to be of help!
BTW, base of the ulcer is fine, however bottom on the ulcer is definitely the most widely used term.
