Medical - Medical (general) / cardiology - acronyms
Italian term or phrase: FAS
This acronym appears in a Pronto Soccorso report; the patient's history reads:

... cardiopatia dilatativa post IMA, portatore ICD, ipertensione polmonare, pregresso STEMI, PTCA + stent su ramo AL, BPCO, *FAS*.

I'm not able to find an expansion for this FAS acronym, and we don't have it in Acromed. I thought it might be a typo for FAP (fibrillazione atriale parossistica) but it appears 3 times in the file, so I doubt that it would be a typo.

What does FAS stand for in this context, and how do we say it in English?

secondary AF
Explanation:
When I re-read the text on occasion of your comment, it occurred to me that "fibrillazione atriale secondaria" would fit quite well, as this is a patient with afib secondary to dilated cardiomyopathy.

Fibrillazione atriale silente might be another "FAS", but a patient would not undergo pacemaker placement if his/her afib were asymptomatic.
