Italian term or phrase: ponendo la variabile territoriale al centro dei modelli di sviluppo sostenibile
Il servizio offerto dall'area, utilizzando l'esperienza delle migliori pratiche conosciute nel settore, si propone di affiancare amministratori ed operatori nella gestione di questo problema, *ponendo la variabile territoriale al centro dei modelli di sviluppo sostenibile*...

The sentence I came up with for this was "unsatisfactory" for my client, so I need some suggestions please! Thank you, again....:-)

Explanation:
Here's a first cut:

"The service offered by the area, based on the experience gained through the best practices known in the sector, has proposed that administrators and operators [that is, the government authorities and commercial interests] work together to resolve this problem, placing the territorial variable at the center of the models of sustainable development…"

Notes:
1) You'll probably find in the context a better word than "area."
2) The Italian "gestione" is literally "management," but I suggest "resolve" or "solve," on the grounds that people usually prefer to solve problems than simply "manage" them. Alternatively, you could hedge with "…address this problem."
3) Mathematical models and statistical simulations always use quantities, known as "variables," which represent the various factors in the process.
4) The last four words could be replaced with "sustainable development models" (less clear but more colloquial).

Last, as a point of information, "sustainable development" is a fashionable bit of jargon among the public-policy wonk set.

Hope this helps! -- HC

making the territorial variable the focus of models of sustainable growth

Explanation:
"Making something the focus" is a more succint and (I think) more elegant way of saying "putting something in the center".
As to "sustainable development", I have also heard it called "sustainable growth". If you prefer "development", go right ahead. The Ital/Eng dictionary lists both terms for "sviluppo".
