Self explanatory I suppose. I put "dean", but I've also got "Preside della Facoltà di...", and I've found "dean" for that. So how about this other highly important human being?
Thanks in advance

It's all a little confusing isn't it! Seems that universities also have chancellors, but maybe they're even more important (or was it less?). Anyway I'll go with Davorka and Natalie on this one. Thanks, of course, to erm.. cbolton!
Cheers

Chancellor

Explanation:
Hi, I remember this from my college days and, sure enough, Webster's defines the post as "the title of the president or a high executive officer in some universities".
FYI, at my college, the chancellor came under the president, but not all universities are the same.

Rector of the University

Explanation:
il Magnifico Rettore dell'Università = rector (in European Universities) (or President of the University - Americanism)
Preside di Facoltà = Dean of the Faculty
