La ROVERELLA (Quercus pubescens) è la meno alta e meno longeva delle querce, e si presenta talvolta in forma di arbusto. Ha comunque dimensioni ridotte. È una specie diffusa in tutta Italia, specie nella zona prealpina e appenninica, sui pendii cadli e ben esposti al sole. Il fusto è tortuoso, molto ramificato, e la chioma irregolare. I rami giovani, la pagina inferiore delle foglie e le cupole delle ghiande hanno una sottile peluria. Le foglie sono caduche, ma restano secche sui rami per tutto l\'inverno. Le ghiande di roverella, di forma allungata, sono sempre state tradizionalmente usate per l\'alimentazione dei suini. Cresce anche in ambienti degradati e poveri, e viene quindi usata anche come specie pioniera.
