Italian to English translations [PRO]
Social Sciences - Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc. / philosophy
Italian term or phrase: determinatezze
The author uses this form seemingly to express that an object is characterized, determined, in certain definite aspects. The Kantian categories are "determinatezze" of an object.

"Qui le categorie perdono il contatto con l’ente e si trasformano in “datità della coscienza” (cf. Külpe 1915: 6f.), per cui sostanza e accidente, causa ed effetto non si lasciano più concepire come determinatezze oggettuali ottenute per via astrattiva."

Any ideas? I was using "determinacies" but I'm not sure of this... is "determinants" better? Or something entirely different?

I think "determinants" is fine.

"....cause and effect can no longer be thought of as objective determinants"

The phrase "objective determinants" has a lot of google hits. "Determinant" can be defined as "a determining agent or factor." So you could also say "determining factor." Or something to that effect.

I would use precise, as it referres to categories that characterize something. But objective determinants is also ok
