Italian term or phrase: macchina a stati
usa una macchina a stati che controlla...
refers to a GPS system capable of being configured in various status positions. Is it proper to call it a status machine. or status detector?
Kathi
English translation:Try "state" instead of "status"...
Explanation:
as in "...uses a state machine that controls...."

The GPS system or device can be configured in various different states, so "state machine" would be the appropriate term. (It's also a very common phrase in computer and microprocessor programming -- a web search turned up almost 60,000 hits!)
