profiled aluminium
Explanation:
Or "aluminum", if you are of the North American persuasion.
The Italian term is derived from "greca", an architectural term meaning a fret, key pattern, or meander-style decorative element of repeated horizontal and vertical straight lines. Since there are endless variations on this configuration, the generic "profiled" is probably your safest bet.

chequer plate

Explanation:
Hi Peter,
This stuff is "chequer plate" or "chequerplate", though it could also be "rice grain treadplate" if you want to be finicky... (I think it's much of a muchness for your purpose, it's all about anti-slip relief patterns used for trafficable surfaces).
Cheers
Derek
