Glass fusion
Explanation:
"The stained glass is cut into the required shapes and laid edge to edge on a kiln shelf. It is then taken to a temperature at which all the pieces fuse together without the colours mingling. The fused piece is then returned to the kiln resting on a mould - made of fibre, plaster or metal - into which it sinks when the correct temperature is reached. This is called slumping. The bottom of the glass takes on the texture of whatever it has slumped into whereas the top surface remains smooth and shiny."
