From a military point of view (which I think applies here) I suggest the following:

1.)campo d'appoggio - area of Mission Support

2.)campo di forza - area of Force Projection. The capacity to fight a war outside your own countrie's boundaries, such as the US did in Kuwait.

Explanation:
However, if it is a part of a ship it would be referring to an area where forces are generated and where the ship has to provide a resistance to support these forces.
If it is in the area of the propeller, the prop would be loading (generating forces into) the propeller shaft which is supported tranversely and vertically by bearings and longitudinally by the reduction gears.
