Italian to English translations [Non-PRO] Textiles / Clothing / Fashion / knitting terminology and instruction
Italian term or phrase:tipo trecchia tenendo sempre quelle diritto sul davanti del lavoro e girando
This is from an Italian knitting book. It is an instruction on how to knit a particular stitch. I have tried to piece together my own translation but I sense that I'm missing something
This is all very helpful, thanks. Yes there is more of a context which seems to validate your translations but in an effort to be concise I only included the most perplexing part. The context is:
intreccare 4 diritto con 4 rovesco, TIPO TRECCHIA..............E GIRANDO il ferro ausilliare in modo che la maglia diritto resulti a rovescio.
Yes, you probably need to slip the plain stitches on to a cable needle and keep them at the front of the work, then turn that (which is what gives the cable). Perhaps giving the complete sentence would help?
Hi Kim - sounds like you need to keep the knit stiches of the cable facing what will be the front and turn (probably the whole part your knitting?). I've tried some complex stitches - but books are always tough to interpret -the language doesn't matter!
