transverse tubes Explanation: http://scientific.thomson.com/media/dw/productpdfs/itppdfs/i... The carriage body has a framework of lengthwise (15) and **transverse (35) tubes** supporting outer (10) and inner skins. The tubes are of round section and joined at some at least of their points of intersection (12) by connectors (36). The connectors have lengthwise (38) and transverse (37) sleeves of circular cross-section into which the tubes are inserted. When the framework is assembled the lengthwise tubes are pushed through the sleeves of the connectors, which are then slid along the tubes to the points of intersection with the transverse tubes before being fixed in place. The outer skin of the carriage is stuck to the tubular framework, and the inner skin is attached to it by an elastic interlocking system. Use: Railway carriage assembly. |
