Principe de fonctionnement :
Deux rotors (ou pistons rotatifs) de profils conjugués s'engrènent sans contact grâce à un jeu de pignons de synchronisation. Le volume de gaz prélevé du côté aspiration est enfermé entre une face d'un rotor et la chambre de compression, et est transféré vers le refoulement. Un orifice d'entrée d'air complémentaire permet , au cours du transfert, l'introduction d'air frais dans la chambre de compression ce qui limite l'échauffement de la machine. Ce phénomène se produit 6 fois par tour de l'arbre de commande.
