No, "punto de acceso/conexión" a Internet es el modo técnico de llamar a un sitio en el que es posible conectarse a Internet (hoteles, áreas de aeropuertos, etc. que ofrecen este servicio). En términos más distendidos, como los que tu propones, diríamos algo similar a "voy a un sitio/local/centro con conexión a Internet para mirar el correo electrónico" :-)
