interlocking connection part

There may be a term for the 継手部 other than connection part, but I thought you might be puzzled with the first word. It has a meaning of interlocking, joining, sort of thing.

part joining/fitting the coupling

くい込む継手部

くい込む has dictionary definitions of bore into, thrust (among others)

The word that I see reoccurring is joining/fitting with the coupling since the coupling joins/fits the two parts together (i.e. the part that joins sections of long transmission shafts -see below).

Example sentence:

Couplings are used to join sections of long transmission shafts. couplings are also used to connect the shaft of a driving machine to the shaft of a separately built machine so as to give an effect of continuous shaft.
