wondering if "pure ECU harness" is a standard translation

(particularly in regard to "pure")

Genuine (brand-name, factory-authorized, etc.) ECU harness
Explanation:
I believe 純正 is referring to genuine parts? Maybe as opposed to being aftermarket parts, or parts made by a company not necessarily authorized by the auto maker.

For example, let's say Toyota's supplier for the ECU harness is Company A. When a customer buys a new car at the dealer, they get a car that has an ECU harness from Company A. That would be 純正 or a genuine part. However, if Company B (not authorized by Toyota) is making and selling ECU harnesses as aftermarket service parts, those would not be considered 純正.

"Pure" doesn't make much sense to me in this context.

Just a note: these non-genuine parts are sold at Auto Zone or those sorts of places (not at the dealer: the dealer would only carry parts from Company A). This sort of thing happens a lot with air filters, cosmetic parts such as ground effects, stereos, and some air conditioning components.

agree  humbird: Standard translation for 純正 is genuine or factory-authorized (InterPress). So I believe this is correct translation.
