Japanese term or phrase: 松前三湊
Is there an official translation for this term or can it be translated as "the three ports of Matsumae"?

Here is the sentence:
江戸幕府のもと、松前藩は交易を基盤として蝦夷地を支配し、松前・江差・箱館の「松前三湊」は蝦夷地の主要な港として栄えていました。

The Three Ports of Matsumae
Explanation:
Or the so called "Three Ports of Matsumae" is fine I think. As far as I remember my history lessons, I don't think there is another expression...but there was not much about Matsumae.

Reference information:
The port town "Hakodate"
One of the famous "Three Harbors of Ezo" (now Hokkaido) along with Matsumae and Esashi, Hakodate has long provided an excellent natural harbor, and prospered as a trading center for marine produce. Following the reopening of Japan to foreign trade in 1859, Hakodate became a trading port like Yokohama and Nagasaki. This constant interaction with the outside world placed Hakodate at the forefront of modernization in Japan. The area around the mountain Hakodate-yama and the port of Hakodate still retains much of the atmosphere of the time, and many of the pseudo-Western style homes built from around 1900 to 1930 are in good condition.......
